Description
The Crown Rest is inspired by the creative and unintentional uses of objects in our home; Inspired by the iconic chrysanthemum flower, which holds a prominent place in Japanese design. Using the petal shapes we carved a series of groves that allow pens to be held in multiple orientations, ensuring not only a secure grip but also an elegant display of your writing tools.
Molding our the crown rest as a solid piece gives the piece a beautiful weight, that also allows it to also be used as a paper weight to keep your loose paper safe in the morning breeze.
This collection of beautifully considered objects combines the elegance of traditional Japanese craft with the contemporary functional aesthetics of modernist British design.
Each piece in our Imari collection has been produced exclusively for us using our designs by artisans at the Kanemon Kiln in Okawachiyama. Located in Imari, Saga Prefecture, and is often referred to as the "Village of Secret Kilns."
Each crown rest is handmade using the traditional Nabeshima-Sometshuke colours and pigments.
To create this limited edition collection we have used hand-made techniques and any perceived imperfection in the material and finish is part of the unique character of each individual piece.
